Tim Park is a jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and award-winning composer based in Oberlin and Seattle. He is currently studying Jazz Performance and Composition at Oberlin Conservatory of Music.

Tim Park is a jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer based in Oberlin and Seattle. With a passion for performing, he focuses on playing music that invites both musicians and listeners alike to join in the creation of spontaneous and infectious joy.Previously a part of Garfield High School’s renowned jazz program, Park has performed three times at the prestigious Essentially Ellington Festival and Competition at Jazz at Lincoln Center, earning accolades for his standout solo performances each year. Other festival performances include the Caramoor Jazz Festival, the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival at the University of Idaho, and the Earshot Jazz Festival in Seattle.A winner of the 2025 YoungArts Competition in Jazz Composition, Park has written for a wide variety of ensembles ranging from solo pieces to arrangements for big band ensembles. He manages and leads his own quintet and big band in Seattle, where he has premiered original suite compositions and performed sold-out shows. Currently mentored by Grammy-award-winning composer and pianist Steven Feifke, Park seeks to write music that traces engaging narratives, whether it be experimenting with sonic textures, orchestration, cultural motifs, or a spin on classic melodies.Beyond musical study, Park is a driven community organizer, having coordinated various performances that champion local businesses and non-profits. Recent projects include the Swing n’ Cider Annual Pressing and Performance at Legion Field Community Garden, and managing the Annual Empty Mugs Fundraiser and Performance for Oberlin Community Services. In Seattle, he served as a student representative for the Garfield Jazz Foundation and as a student board member for the Seattle Jazz Fellowship.Park is currently studying Jazz Performance and Composition at Oberlin Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Dr. Eddie Henderson and Prof. Jay Ashby.

Quintessence is a student-led jazz quintet based in Seattle, featuring alumni and students from Roosevelt, Bothell, Garfield, and Lake Washington high schools.Members include Tim Park on trumpet, Max Wilson on saxophone, Jonathan Yang on piano, Theo McGaughey on bass, and Reuben Greenspun on drums.Named in the memory of Garfield alum and maestro Quincy Jones, Quintessence strives to maintain the spirit of jazz tradition and excellence in the greater Seattle area. Bridging academia and town residents together, the 2026 Spring Revival Showcase features talented musicians from the Community Music School, Kendal at Oberlin, and groups from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
